Best food around. Absolutely the best sushi. The sushi itself would be cause enough to come visit this place. The best spot in the area, and I'd go as far as saying it's definitely the best place to go in Knox county.

The best sushi around! Will drive out of the way for this one. Always amazing service and fresh food!

Good sushi and prompt service. Wish they had some lunchtime hours. Our regular sushi go to.

I'd go 3.5 if they had that option. Basically, my Japanese wife and I had different reactions-- very different. I loved the Kirin draft beer at a very decent price, I thought the sushi tuna was VERY good, I liked the nice variety on the menu and the presentation of the rolls (as well as the taste). By the way, the place really does have more Japanese dishes than many so-called "Japanese" places-- noodles, katsu, etc. etc. My Japanese wife is very picky about sushi and especially the rice (sorry, that's repetitive.....I said she was Japanese so no need to repeat that she's picky! LOL). To her, there was much too much rice with the sushi (I saw what she was talking about but it's not nearly so important to me to find the right rice/fish mix), and too many of the rolls were "Americanized" conceptions-- for example all the rolls with avocado or mayonnaise or other ingredients not usually found in Japanese rolls. Well, they were still delicious, so I'm not going with her 2.5 rating. But this review may be helpful to those who are, like my wife, very very picky about their sushi and their sushi rice. To me, rice is rice. I am definitely not Japanese. If I were in the east side and wanted sushi or Japanese food, and not with her, I'd go back with no hesitation. Oh well.....

Came here on Saturday night around 7pm. There were plenty of people waiting ahead of us to be seated, as they do not take reservations. We waited around 1/2 hour and finally got a table. For my appetizer, I went with my favorite, cucumber avocado roll. It was an epic size, and definitely not the small rolls I used to get back in New Jersey. And for our dinners, we both went with the hibachi, which come with a soup or salad, rice and veggies. I opted for the salmon hibachi, which did not disappoint. I loved the sauce that came on top of the salmon. The portion size of the dinner is also great, as I had half of my dinner to take home. Also, both the miso and the onion/mushroom soups are delicious. Special thanks to Kelly, our waitress, who was always checking in on us, despite how busy she was taking care of a packed restaurant. What I liked about Tangerine was how quiet and calm the place was despite every table being occupied. Also, the decorations are a very nice touch, with the Japanese parasols hanging overhead and ambient, soft lighting. If you're going to check out Tangerine on the weekend, I would recommend going when they just open at 5pm or around 7:30 pm, when the crowds die down. You really can't go wrong with any of the dinner options here, and they do have a bar!

Amazing food, the best sushi I have ever had. Fast and friendly service. Can't wait to go back! (Crab Rangoons were great too, but I didn't take a picture.)

Delicious, as always! I had eel maki roll, tuna & salmon sushi -- all were fresh (well, as fresh as possible in the mountains!) & delicious. This is where I go when I crave reasonably priced sushi in Knoxville. The cold kirin on draft really hit the spot! So good!

One reason I love Japanese Cuisine is because no matter your dietary preference there are plenty of options to choose from. My boyfriend and I stopped by tangerine as the last stop in TN before heading home and my oh my was the food delicious. Everything taste fresh and flavor packed. The miso, the sushi, and our shrimp teriyaki dishes were *muah* chefs kiss! Presentation & all. The service was great. We were seated immediately and the server came promptly. She gave great alcohol recommendations. She checked in when needed and was friendly. I liked the ambiance. True to Japanese culture they had wagasas on the ceiling. They also had a bar where we ordered two different kinds of saki. We Would definitely stop by again whenever we're in TN.

We've been in the area for about a year now and this is the BEST Japanese/sushi place I've tried so far! It's in an unassuming location inside a small strip mall, easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. Inside it is clean and tidy with some soft classical music playing in the background. Everything we tried was perfectly prepared and beautifully displayed. The waitress was incredibly professional and very friendly and attentive. This place checked all my boxes!!! Can't wait to go back!

I was a little frustrated in the beginning when they had lots of open tables but made us wait to be seated for a while, but the waitress we had was great and the food was AMAZING. Other staff even came by (including the owner it seemed) to check on us and wish us a Merry Christmas. We live up in Grainger County and we thought there was no good Asian food within 45 minutes. This place was awesome and it is closer to where we live. Portions were huge and we made two meals out of the entrees. Sushi was huge and well presented. All the food was timed well and the prices were reasonable. This will be our new go-to spot for Asian from now on.
